Chocolate Banana Bread

Chocolate Banana Bread

This recipe is the perfect mix of chocolate and banana when you are craving something sweet and satisfying. The bread is very moist thanks to the combination of the banana, butter, oil & yogurt, with a nice chocolatey finish thanks to the addition of the chocolate chips. It’s more like a cake than a bread to be honest, but as a variation you can omit the cocoa powder for a more traditional style banana bread and leave in the chocolate chips for flavour and texture.

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups very ripe banana, mashed
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar

directions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.  In a medium bowl, blend the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. In a second medium sized bowl, blend together the bananas, butter and oil. Then add the brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth. Then mix together the wet and dry ingredients just until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean. Allow bread to cool and then sprinkle with icing sugar.
