Chocolate Waffles
These delicious chocolate waffles are high in protein, slightly sweet and have a nice chocolaty flavor which makes them delicious with or without the addition of syrup. The shortcut method is to add cocoa powder to your pancake and waffle mix, which is great in a pinch, or you can make them from scratch using the ingredients below. Either way, they are sure to be gobbled up in no time!
- Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 dozen eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 4 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
directions:
In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients until a smooth batter is formed. Grease your waffle iron or pan and pour in the mixture. Cook for approx 15 minutes until fluffy. Remove from the pan and serve with fruit or whichever toppings you like.
