Moroccan Beef Kabobs with Herbed Yogurt Sauce

The flavor of the rub in this recipe is a little spicy and exotic. When paired with the cool yogurt sauce it creates an intense flavor combination. It really is a show stealer and therefore I like to keep the other dishes accompanying the meal quite simple. Rice or potatoes and a simple salad is all you need. The yogurt sauce works nicely with the beef but is also delicious with chicken, pork or lamb.
- Ingredients:
- 1 pound steak
- 2 bell peppers, chopped
- 1 red onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ground cloves
- 2 teaspoons nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
- Herbed Yogurt Sauce
- 1/2 cup onion, minced
- 1/2 cup mint, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons dill, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon rind
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Directions:
Combine the ingredients for the herbed yogurt dip and set aside to allow flavours to blend. Preheat the grill to medium-high. Soak 4 wooden skewers in water while you prepare the meat. Place the meat on a cutting board and rub with olive oil. Combine the garlic and the spices together in a bowl and rub into the meat on all sides. Slice the beef into 1 inch cubes. Thread the meat and veggies on the skewer and place on the grill. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove from the barbecue and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Serve with Herbed Yogurt Sauce.
